It will be a very happy holiday for many in the Johnson Park-Cornhill neighborhood, City of Utica and surrounding areas this year. On Monday, December 17, 2018, the Johnson Park Center (JPC) hosted its annual Christmas Food and Presents Give-A-Way.

Rev. Dr. Scates shared words of encouragement with those who gathered at JPC on Monday amid the sounds of holiday music. Members of the JPC Board of Directors helped to pass out presents/toys for the children and age appropriate presents to the Adults and share their experiences at JPC over the years. It was a very chilly, windy with freezing rain, ice and snowy winter day. Rev. Meier, Staff, Volunteers and Youth Voice Initiatives served all of the participants with a lot of energy and strength; kept the line moving and the community happy by providing hot food and beverages. Additionally, Papa's John donated delicious pizza which was also served to the people waiting in line.

Some of JPC's Vendors and College partners also participated in the festivities by passing out Presents and/or Food. Representatives from Apex Document Solution; Christopher R. Lambert & Associates; Express Employment Professionals; MVP Health Care; Poncell Construction; Staffworks Inc.; Hamilton College and Keuka College spread the joy of the season in the presents/toy tent.

This time of year can be particularly difficult for low-income households; holiday meals can be expensive and so is providing presents to children. JPC hopes to have lessened the stress and burden for many families, individuals and seniors this holiday season and we look forward to a bright year ahead!
