Some area women are finally able to call Utica home.
A grand opening and dedication ceremony took place at the Johnson Park Apartments in Utica.
The apartments house women who were once homeless. Not only is everything new, but the buildings are energy-efficient.
One resident, Rebecca McCormick calls this her second chance at life.
"Being homeless is giving up your identity. It's also giving up your integrity and makes your self-esteem. Really go down. You just have to build from that and that's what I have done," said McCormick, a resident of Johnson Park Apartments.
Rebecca says she plans on going to college. She currently volunteers her time at the office at the Johnson Park Center.
