Thank You to MVCAA for 2013 Treva Wood Community Activist Award

"It is an immense blessing to have been selected to receive the Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency (MVCAA) 2013 Treva Wood Community Activist Award. For the past 18 years, I have dedicated my life to rebuilding the Johnson Park-Cornhill area. Though vision, dedication, commitment, hard work and with the affection and acceptance of the great people in Johnson Park-Cornhill, the City of Utica and the Mohawk Valley, we all have made positive change possible both in the past and in the present.
It's always difficult for me to receive individual recognition because I know none of the positive change we have seen in Johnson Park, including assisting the homeless, low-income families and/or people in need happened because of one person alone. Neighborhood children were the first volunteers to help me pick up trash, generous donors have committed to funding vital projects, willing families and individuals have encouraged loved ones to do the right thing and countless volunteers and organizations have placed a hand on the bottom of the heavy load that has been lifted in this neighborhood.
I'm amazed by the progress and our accomplishments, and I thank MVCAA very much for the 2013 Treva Wood Community Activist Award."
