JPC School Supplies Giveaway

Tuesday, August 25th, 2015

UTICA, NY - Sorry kids, but it's time to start thinking about going back to school.

With that in mind Johnson Park Center held its annual "Back to School and Say No to Drugs Party" in Johnson Park Tuesday evening.

There was plenty of free food and games for everybody.

The big attraction though, one thousand bags of free school supplies were handed out to students who signed up and were present at the party.

Reverend Dr. Maria Scates, the founder of Johnson Park Center, says "We've come a long way. This neighborhood was on its way to becoming burned out and unusable. In fact when I first came here the city and different ones was telling us they were so grateful that we had come here and had a vision to bring change because it was desperately needed."

Johnson Park Center has been part of the community for 20 years.
